Rodeo Season Is Here — Here's Your Complete Style Playbook

Rodeo season has a specific energy. There's a whole culture around showing up right — looking like you belong, like you've done this before, like the outfit was easy even though we both know it wasn't.

I look forward to it every year. Not just for the event — for the dressing. Because rodeo season is one of the last occasions where women still dress with full commitment, and I am absolutely here for it.

Here's your complete playbook.

The Opening Look: Day Session Style

Daytime rodeo is hot, bright, and on your feet. You need something that photographs well and holds up through hours of heat. A fitted western shirt in a light-catching color or print — the toile print blue rodeo shirt, the embroidered Patrona blouse in magenta — reads perfectly in natural light. Pair it with bootcut denim, a wide-brim hat for sun protection, and boots you've broken in.

Rodeo season is one of the last occasions where women still dress with full commitment. I am absolutely here for it.

Rule for daytime: keep the makeup minimal, let the outfit do the talking, wear boots you can actually walk in for several hours. Function and fashion are not mutually exclusive.

The Evening Upgrade

The night session is where you can go bigger. The lights are different — dramatic, warm, made for bold pieces. This is the occasion for the Imperial Équestre Silk-Touch Blouse. Red and gold, chain print, a shirt that was literally designed to perform under arena lighting.

Swap the daytime bootcut for a dark slim jean or a western skirt. Swap the wide-brim for something sleeker or skip the hat entirely. Add jewelry. Your belt should have some hardware. The boots stay — upgrade the height if you want.

What Not to Wear

Anything that restricts movement. Anything with synthetic fabric that will be uncomfortable by hour two. Anything you're not ready to have photographed from every angle, because someone always has a camera.

The After-Party

This is where the real style happens. The rodeo crowd knows how to have a good time and they dress for it. A great western blouse, statement belt, boots — the Vellamoda formula applies here more than anywhere. Add a leather jacket if the night cools down. Keep the hat if it's been working. Let the outfit carry the room.

Rodeo season comes once a year. Dress like it matters. It does.
